I'm a bit nervous. Is it safe? The rooms are designed to be exciting - just like a real mystery! But the stories are not real and you won't be put in any danger. The games won't require you to lift any heavy furniture nor require you to break things. Nothing will jump out to harm you. Plus, you can leave the room any time.
-
What happens if we don't escape in 60 minutes? The most important thing to us is that you have fun - whether you beat the room or not. We will provide clues to help you advance the game if we see you struggling. Or, if you feel very competitive and want to play expert level, we don't have to give you clues at all - just tell us what you want. ā If you don't escape, your soul will be trapped in the room forever!!! Just kidding. When your time is up, your game marshal will come in the room to stop the game. IF YOU WANT, we'll be happy to walk you through the room until you escape depending whether there's a booking after you or not. We'll need to reset the room for the next group. Even if you don't beat the room, you'll still commemorate the experience with a group photo by our signage.
-
Why do we need to arrive 15 minutes early? It is important to arrive early. Just like the movies, the show WILL play whether or not you are seated, and just like flights, the plane will take off whether you show up or not. If you arrive late, you will have less than 60 minutes to solve the mystery. If you haven't filled out the waivers prior to arriving on site, you can use the time to do so. You can also use the restroom so your game is uninterrupted! ā You'll receive a quick briefing from your game marshal. Use this opportunity to ask any questions. You will be able to bring your bags in the room, but no cellphone use will be allowed. Besides, you'll be too busy to look at your phone.
-
Where can we park? The Wailuku Garage is conveniently in front of us. Street parking around the area, or Iao Theater parking lot across the street are also good options. Please plan ahead so you can make it to your game on time. A map is included in your confirmation email when you book.
-
My friend who tried your room already told me the answers to your puzzles. Can I still play?Of course you can still play - though you know the answers, you still haven't experienced it. Anyone could just tell their friends what to expect in the room, that's up to you, but it's a bit uncool. It's like spoiling the ending of an exciting movie. Remember, you're paying for the fun experience and if you have spoilers, it won't be as much fun.
-
I'm not really the puzzles type, is this still for me?You don't need a PhD for this kind of game. If you enjoyed a theme park ride, you'll enjoy this one. As long as you're able to read and write. You'll be surprised how different perspectives can help solve the mystery. You won't do any calculus or rocket science to open locks. You just need to bring an open mind and open eyes - look at everything around the room! This game is for everyone! Colleagues at work, a family vacation activity, a date night, a class, honeymooners.
-
Are we going to be paired up with other people in the room? You mean take the risk that you might be paired up with someone sweaty, stinky or someone obnoxious? We don't like that every time we play ourselves so the answer is no. You'll have the room just for your party whether it's the minimum of 2, or max of 6.
-
But what if there's ONE more in our team? Can we allow just one more? There's 7 of us in our group. Here's the thing - 7 can fit in the room. Even 10 can fit in the room. But the experience won't be the same. Other than it's going to be a bit crowded, we want everyone to be an active player in the game so you get your money's worth! An option is to divide your group in two - maybe team A with 3 members and team B with 4? If it's really a deal breaker, contact info@mysterymaui.com and we'll see what we can do!
-
There's 6 of us but each will pay on their own, how can we do that? There are 2 ways: Booking online guarantees nobody else can steal your preferred date and time. You can book the minimum 2 people to hold the room, then we can add the rest when you folks check-in. This way nobody else can snag your date and time. The other way is to call (808) 249-2062 during business hours, or leave a message on our phone with your situation. We can manually hold your booking up to 24 hours. ā OR, just have someone pay for all 6 online and all can pay them back. Right?
-
What if we mess up something in the room? I hope not, but what if we break something? Then you'll pay for it! Nah, remember that we will SEE and HEAR everything via cameras. The room is solid so the only time you might break things is if you use EXCESSIVE force on something, which is not allowed at all. Otherwise, you're safe.
-
I've played some escape rooms before, are the puzzles going to be the same? Our rooms are all original. Designed, conceptualized and built from scratch by us. You won't be playing the same room anywhere else... in the world.
-
Restroom available?Yes - we gotchu. If you like anime and manga, you'll like our restroom.
-
What's the escape level of your rooms?Difficult. Most teams ESCAPE in time with CLUES from us. But for "pure" games where we didn't need to send any clues, we'll say about 10%. (And we've been open since 2018! It's already 2024!)
